Is Aruba or San Marino an EASA register?Link to this section

An EASA register is one where the EASA Basic Regulation applies directly; neither is, and both sit close to the EU without being in it. The Registry of Aruba accepts EASA among its type-certificate choices and publishes its Article 83bis agreements. The San Marino Aircraft Registry applies its own Civil Aviation Regulations and recognizes EASA approvals. See the EASA rows.

How does import VAT differ between Aruba and San Marino for an aircraft?Link to this section

Import VAT is the tax charged on an aircraft entering a tax territory, and neither jurisdiction charges VAT. Aruba's Departamento di Impuesto collects a combined turnover tax at the border, registered aircraft being exempt from import duty. San Marino levies an import tax that registration by a non-resident owner does not trigger. See the import VAT rows.

How should an owner choose between Aruba and San Marino?Link to this section

Aruba or San Marino is an owner's question before it is a registry's: whether the aircraft flies privately or for hire, how the owning entity is formed and where it is resident, and which base and maintenance organization it will use. A specialist can put both registries against those answers.
