Is Bermuda or San Marino an EASA register?Link to this section
An EASA register is one where the EASA Basic Regulation applies directly; neither is. The Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority regulates under the Air Navigation (Overseas Territories) Order and publishes the Article 83bis counterparties it holds. The San Marino Aircraft Registry applies its own Civil Aviation Regulations, recognizing EASA approvals and listing the agreements it has concluded. See the EASA rows.

How does import VAT differ between Bermuda and San Marino for an aircraft?Link to this section
Import VAT is the tax charged on an aircraft entering a tax territory, and neither charges VAT. Bermuda has no sales or goods and services tax; its Customs Tariff Act charges import duty ad valorem. San Marino levies an import tax instead, and under its Law Reforming Civil Aviation registration by a non-resident owner does not trigger it. See the import VAT rows.

Time to registration is the interval between a complete file and the Certificate of Registration. The Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority publishes a service standard in business days from receipt of documentation, and requires an Air Operator Certificate for hire or reward. The San Marino Aircraft Registry publishes a day-count turnaround and admits commercial air transport as well. Compare the timeline rows.

How should an owner choose between Bermuda and San Marino?Link to this section
Bermuda or San Marino follows the flying rather than the registry: whether commercial air transport is planned and on whose certificate, which financier sits behind the aircraft, and where it will be imported and kept. A specialist can read both authorities once the owner has fixed those.
